Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

One of the treatment methods we offer is Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), a discipline focused on repairing damaged relationships based on attachment theory. Through the restoring, strengthening, and understanding of attachments, the basis of a healthy long-term relationship can be formed and couples can experience connection in new and powerful ways.

As the name implies, EFT places a high value on emotions and emotional regulation. This method gains much of its effectiveness by helping couples learn how to communicate in a way that their partner can not only understand, but also emotionally receive. From there, couples are able to build and cultivate secure attachments which set the stage for their relationship to thrive.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

The human experience contains a myriad of emotions, but our culture tends to view some emotions in a positive light, while coloring others as “needing to be fixed”. At Discover Hope, we use the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy treatment method to address common things people deal with, such as anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and a variety of disorders including eating disorders and OCD.

By first becoming aware of self-talk and emotions, participants in ACT therapy are able to begin accepting those emotions by identifying them as something greater than their thoughts and feelings. This method of therapy allows individuals to consciously choose their values and commit to pursuing those values and growing as a person. ACT is an excellent tool for helping people navigate the turbulent circumstances that life throws their way, while remaining true to the values they’ve accepted as their own.

Brainspotting Therapy

Our licensed therapists are trained in Brainspotting (BSP), an alternative therapy used to locate points in your visual field that help to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain. Brainspotting therapy is one of the most effective therapies for changing unhealthy habits, healing trauma and resolving emotional issues. BSP is particularly effective in identifying and healing underlying trauma that contributes to anxiety, depression and other behavioral conditions.

The brainspot is the eye position that connects to the part of the brain that contains the traumatic experience and brings it into awareness where it can be processed and healed. As the brainspot is sustained with mindful attention, the information in the brain is released and the body and mind move towards greater equilibrium. As unconscious memories are brought up into conscious awareness, they can be dealt with and moved into a part of the brain that allows us to move forward in our lives.

Sand Tray Therapy

Sand Tray Therapy is a powerful, hands-on therapeutic approach that allows both children and adults to express emotions that are difficult to put into words. Using a tray of sand and a variety of miniature figures, clients create symbolic scenes that reflect their internal experiences, emotions, and conflicts. This form of therapy is especially helpful for children, who may struggle to articulate complex feelings, but it’s also effective for teens and adults working through trauma, grief, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm.

At Discover Hope Therapy, our trained clinicians guide the process with care and intention—creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for insight and healing to emerge. Sand Tray Therapy helps externalize emotions, access the subconscious, and process stuck or suppressed experiences in a creative, engaging way. It’s one of the many trauma-informed tools we use to support mental and emotional wellness across all ages.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy designed to help people heal from trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. EMDR helps the brain reprocess painful memories by using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or tapping, allowing emotional wounds to be processed and released at a deep, neurological level.

At Discover Hope Therapy, our trained EMDR therapists work with clients of all ages—children, teens, and adults—to reduce the emotional intensity of past trauma and restore a sense of safety and balance. EMDR is particularly effective for individuals struggling with PTSD, childhood trauma, anxiety, phobias, or unresolved grief. By addressing the root of the pain, EMDR offers a powerful pathway to healing, helping you move forward without being held back by your past.
